Sat 5th Nov, 2011 - Working & Pastoral Breeds of Scotland
This weekend it was not a weekend for us to be showing, but in actual fact, a weekend for Joan to judge Leonbergers with CCs on offer.
As most of the year has shown, the entry at the shows during the year have been very low. Exhibitors travelling to Scotland in November is proving to be too much to ask as we do suffer with bad weather at this time of year and the North of the UK does get the worst spell of cold, frost and more so, snow and ice. However, the weather was only frosty but nothing more
Joan and Dave travelled up on Friday to Edinburgh as the show was the next day. They spent a good evening amongst other judges and friends in the hotel having a nice meal and putting the World to rights before going to bed and waking the next morning to fulfill their judging appointments.
Joan was in the ring at 9.30am. She awarded a 2nd CC and later Best of Breed to Ann Bell's Clunkamoor Last Word for Wasserhund ShCM. Bitch CC and her 3rd, gaining her UK Champion title was Judith Dawe's Tarkaleos Atlantic Maid at Kensalroag. Best Puppy and Puppy Group 3 was awarded to Les and Julia Strudwick's Debbollinby Naughty Girl for Kumamatata.
A great result for Joan and her winning Leos. The four hour journey back to Derbyshire seemed to pass quickly with the joy of quality dogs that Joan had before her on the day.
Fri 4th Nov, 2011 - HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY ZALAH AND KODEY
Well today is a very memoreable day for us. Our very own 'Zalah' and 'Kodey' celebrated their 10th birthday. As Joan and Dave are travelling to Scotland to judge, Kerry is at home to look after the dogs and also celebrate their 10th birthday.
We have been very fortunate to share ten years with these two wonderful Leonbergers and they are still in excellent spirit and good health.
Cheers to Kodey 'Jocolda Jigsaw at Manorguard' and Zalah 'Jocolda Kyri' on your TENTH birthday. Here is to many more years for the both of you.
Sun 30th Oct, 2011 - Midland Counties Championship Show
We were delighted for the next show to be our 'local' show. Stafford County showground is 1 hour 30 minutes from our home in Derbyshire and it is a very easy place to get to.
We were showing the same two dogs again at Midland Counties, under Mr Chris Quantrill.
Ronnie was shown again in the Junior dog class. This time he was placed 3rd in his class. Ronnie is now taking a little time out for the ring as he is now going through a growth stage and he is changing every other day. He will be back out in the new year at the Championship shows.
Layla was next in Limit Bitch. This class was the strongest class of the day. We are pleased to say that Layla won her class and on the line up she looked every bit the part. Great size, type, well balanced, shown her socks off and moved with such elegance around the ring. So many people were very excited with her class win and said how she would do one better and get the CC on the day. The challenge came for the bitches and sadly it was not our day to win the CC. Top honours went to the open bitch and the reserve was awarded to the junior bitch winner.
After judging had finished, a friend of Joan and Dave's, Scott Sandford, arrived at the show. Joan and Dave met Scott in Ireland in the summer of 2010. Scott is from Australia and was in Ireland the same weekend as Joan and Dave judging various breeds. Since this time in Ireland, Scott has kept in regular contact with Kerry via the internet and text messaging. In early October, Scott emigrated and moved to the UK permanantly, but Kerry was yet to meet him in person. To Kerry's joy, Scott travelled up to the show to meet Kerry and also show a Newfoundland on the day. It was great to see Scott and catch up and we have all become very good and very close friends. We are delighted to have Scott here in the UK, he is equally glad as he has always said that he has always meant to have been a brit, but was sadly born in the wrong country! - We ourselves cannot see the problem with being born in Australia. Seems like paradise to us. Who knows, maybe one day very soon, Kerry will get to visit Australia! Watch this space. :-)
Sat 8th Oct, 2011 - South Wales Championship Show
Joan, Kerry and their very good friend Julie Westwood travelled to South Wales Championship Show at Builth Wells to show both Ronnie 'Leostars Stargazer at Jocolda & Layla 'Jocolda Chie Mihara'.
Our judge for the day was top all rounder, Mr Andrew Brace. First to be shown was Ronnie in Junior Dog. Ronnie was placed 2nd in his class. He behaved well and enjoyed his day out - as he always does anyway.
Layla was next and was handled once again by Kerry. They were in a very good Limit Bitch class and came 2nd. Mr Brace pushed very hard in this class and it was a well deserved win for Kerry and Layla.
It was a good show for Leonbergers as the BOB, Ch Davenheath Court Jester JW ShCM won the Working Group under Bob Gregory and the Best Puppy in Breed, Stormchaser All Guns Blazin won Puppy Group 2.
Fri 29th Jul, 2011 - LEONBERGETZ KROHM AT JOCOLDA "Krohm" (30th May 2004 to 29th July 2011) aged 7yrs 2 months
Krohm our first import from Sweden, bred by Monica Rehnberg of the famous Leonbergetz kennel. Krohm was everything I wanted in a Leonberger, big strong elegant and majestic, with a beautiful dark head and large bone covered in a rich mahogany coat. He was blessed with good hips, elbows and clear eye certificates, he quarantined quite well but was not too fond of the outside world, but loved his life at home and was always happy in his own surroundings. Unfortunately Krohm was infertile so he never produced any offspring. A bonus was that he was shown occasionally winning many BOBs etc. He took Reserve Best Dog at the LCGB show in 2006 followed by him winning his stud book number and a CC at the W&PBreeds in 2007. Krohm has always been a fit active dog but mid July 2011 he was off his food so we gave him different sorts of food which he seemed to enjoy but he was very quiet and slept more than normal but no signs of being ill. Trips to the vets, tests were done but nothing was showing there was a problem. The only thing that was happening was he was having a terrible moult, but as all our other dogs are doing the same it is just the norm at the moment! He sat up quite a lot and seemed tired and by late July he started doing grunting noises as though he was uncomfortable! Then suddenly overnight he started to loose weight, muscle tone and condition then within a couple of days his stomach started to swell and he had no energy, he also did not want to eat! He was rushed to the vets after several tests he was diagnosed with Gastric Adenocarcinoma, we were advised that surgery was an option but most times the tumor could reoccure and that using chemotherapy and radiation was not recomended due to complications using radiation therapy for gastrointestinal problems, and the average life expectancy after surgery would be 6 months to a year I made the decision to have him PTS I held him in my arms and told him what a good dog he had been, and thanked him for sharing my life, and that I loved him very much and to run free with all my other dogs who have gone over the rainbow bridge, until we meet again Krohm R.I.P.
Tue 1st Feb, 2011 - Boston & Manchester
Due to other commitments, we did not make it to Boston Championship show or Manchester, even though we were entered.
Fri 28th Jan, 2011 - RIP Pele - Manorguard Pele at Jocolda
We were very sad to hear of the passing of our great boy, Manorguard Pele at Jocolda. He was sadly pts aged 11 years and 7 months. Pele lived with our friend Sylvia and he is missed terribly by all of us!
He sired many CC winning dogs here in the UK including, Manorguard Yasmin, Manorguard Bewitched, Wolfen A Glory Hunter ShCM,... Wolfen a Touch of Class, Int Ch Jakamak Cool Hand Luke, Crufts BOB 2006 - Oldholbans Svartelheim at Kitarn ShCM, and many other dogs have Pele in there pedigrees today.
Pele was Top Stud dog and most importantly, litter brother to the UK's first Champion - Ch Manorguard Proud Mary. RIP Pele, thank you for producing some exceptionally good Leos!! You will be missed!

Mon 15th Nov, 2010 - The Leonberger Club of GB's Dog of the Year Event 2012
After owning Leonbergers in the UK since 1992 we decided as a family to join the Leonberger Club of Great Britain as members. It seemed to have been a good decision to have done this as many people have passed comment on their delight of having us as members now for the LCGB. Shortly after joining the club as members, we attended the AGM. At the AGM, Kerry was given approval by the Leonberger Club to organise a Leonberger Club of GB's Dog of the Year event in 2012 - to celebrate ten years of Leonberger Champions in the UK. Preparations for the event are still underway. You can email Kerry at leosrus@hotmail.co.uk regarding this special event.
Sun 31st Oct, 2010 - Midland Counties 2010
At Midland Counties Championship show, Mr Carlos Saevich from Argentina judged the breed.
Our young girl Carla - Leosrus Juicy Couture, won 2nd in Puppy Bitch on the day. Roger and Julie Westwood's Layla, Jocolda Chie Mihara won a very good Junior Bitch class. Great news to go home with as Joan could not make the show due to having the flu.
Sat 23rd Oct, 2010 - New Arrival
Following on from the LCGB Championship show, we were very excited to be collecting our new puppy, Ronnie - Leostars Stargazer at Jocolda. Bred by Ron Muers, and aptly named after his breeder! Ronnie was born on 3rd September 2010. With Ronnie also came his Sister to Jocolda, Elsa - Leostars Starlight at Jocolda.
Elsa is now living in Japan but stayed with us for some while before she took a flight over to Japan. She was sent to Atsuo Marakumi of BrownSound Leonbergers, for her friend, Shinichi Hachinohe who now owns her. Shinichi who lives in Japan was the owner of Sweet Rosie who was born in 1995 and bred by Ron Muers. When Sweet Rosie passed away at a great old age some months ago, Shinichi wanted to have another Leonberger from Ron Muers and it was perfect timing, as this litter was born!
It was arranged for Elsa to fly to Japan from the UK on 23rd December and she arrived safely in Japan on 24th with Shinichi and Atsuo waiting with excitement at the airport for her to arrive! Both Ronnie and Elsa continue to grow into Stunning puppies and we are very excited for their future. Their parents are Casper H Bora Z Miloticek at Jantonely x Jocolda Mulberry (litter sister to our Crystal - Jocolda Swarovski to Leosrus).

Leosrus Juicy Couture 'Carla' made her debut also. In the Minor Puppy Bitch Class, Carla won 1st place and she was later awarded Best Puppy Bitch. She also had lots of fun bouncing around and being silly and many people commented on how lovely our youngsters are. Meanwhile Roger & Julie Westwood's Jocolda Chie Mihara 'Layla' won 1st in a very tough Junior Bitch class. Layla now looks in great form and starting to become a young elegant lady.

Tue 24th Aug, 2010 - Hip Score Results & Expected Litters
This week we have received the results of Layla 'Jocolda Chie Mihara's' hips and elbows. As we mentioned, the examiner has estimated a score of 24/7. We were very shocked with this as both parents of Layla, are both 0:0 on their hip score (Baltizar Iz Poselka Sokol for Lionslord x Manorguard Away We Go Again from Jocolda) - the first litter to be produced in the UK from both 0:0 hip scored dogs - as far as records show..
The result of the hips for Layla, have come back at 15/8 = Total 23. A lot lower then estimated but still quite high for the hips scored back in the pedigree of Layla. Elbow scores have come back as 0.The papers have been sent off for recording, as we do believe that regardless of the score, you should still have them recorded so that you can sit to improve the health and quality of life for a dog, and work out ways to improve.
PUPPIES
We are delighted to announce that Jocolda Mulberry 'Amy'(Adam Simply the Best x Jocolda Kyri) Owned by our good friend Ron Muers is expecting puppies mid September. The lucky father to this litter of puppies is Caspar H. Bora z Miloticek at Jantonely. Amy is the litter sister to our very own Jocolda Gio Goi and Jocolda Swarovski to Leosrus. If you are interested in a puppy from this litter then please contact Joan on 0044 1457 864651 or email joan@jocolda.co.uk

Mon 16th Aug, 2010 - Hip Scoring, Jersey & Judging
The past few weeks have been rather hectic for us of late.
Roger & Julie Westwood's Layla - Jocolda Chie Mihara (Baltizar Iz Poselka Sokol for Lionslord x Manorguard Away We Go Again from Jocolda) has had her hips and elbows scored. The examiner has estimated that her hips will be around 24/7 - This is a great shame for us, as both of Layla's parents are 0:0 - and this litter is the first litter to be put together with perfect hips. We await the official score.

Tue 27th Jul, 2010 - Updates/News
Kerry has now returned from her holiday in Greece. In her absence, there has been plenty of things happening.
At a local show a couple of weeks ago, our homebred Leosrus puppies 'Leosrus Hugo Boss 'Riley' owned by Gaye & Ian Holmes, & Leosrus Just Cavalli 'Skye' owned by Linda Russell, attended a companion dog show. 'Riley' was shown in the competition by Gaye & Ian's 3 year old Granddaughter 'Izzy'. From many exhibits at the show in Buxton, Derbyshire, the judge decided that Riley was the Best Puppy in Show winner for this year. 'Skye' was also placed exceptionally well at the show on the day, next to her brother Riley.
Excellent news for all the family and an ever so proud Mother 'Trud' who was also there on the day watching her young son & daughter do so well. Congratulations to Gaye, Ian, Linda, Trud Riley Skye & of course, 3 year old Izzy. We are very proud of your results. Well done.

Sun 4th Jul, 2010 - Companion Dog Show
Yesterday we all headed off to the local companion dog show. We entered both puppies, Paco & Carla, and we also had Jimmy Choo with us in the park.
All day many people came over and made a big fuss of the Leos.. many kids were not sure, but then the Leos soon changed their opinion, by licking and being their typical gentle selves.
Great to see so many other dogs, people and much activity for the day, especially for the puppies who are now 4 months old.
At the dog show, Paco was entered into the puppy classes, there was over 20 entries and he was awarded 1st and Best Puppy in Show. We are delighted with his win, and he was admired by so many people on the day. We went home later in the day and all of us were knackered. On the way home, the three Leos, decided to have a paddle in the river in the park! See the gallery for photos

Mon 21st Jun, 2010 - Summer Weekend with friends, and the dogs
This weekend we had a weekend full of catching up with friends and enjoying the lovely weather.
The puppies are now 16 weeks old and have all settled into their new homes... Riley 'Leosrus Hugo Boss' is with Gaye & Ian in Macclesfield, Skye 'Leosrus Just Cavalli' is with Linda in Buxton, and Finlay is with Dianne & Joe in Cornwall.
This week, 'Skye' has come back to us for a weeks holiday. She is a beautiful young girl, calm and friendly, she has made great friends with our persian cat, Tids..we are very proud of her progress, as we are with the other baby Leos.
We had plenty of dog walks over the weekend and Kerry has now got to pack her suitcase for her trip to the World Dog Show in Denmark this coming weekend. Leonbergers are judged by a finnish judge called Gunnel Holm. Plenty of photos will come back from the show, so watch this space.
Over the weekend we were very sad to hear of the loss of a true Leo enthusiast, Mr Fred Inwood - Kinghern Leonbergers. Fred was a devoted man to Leos and always made a great appearance at shows or Leo gatherings, and many of us enjoyed his great company and much admired humour. Our thoughts are with Fred's Wife, Jenny and the family. RIP Fred.

Our very own Crystal 'Jocolda Swarovski to Leosrus' was up next in the Limit Bitch class. Now just 2 years old, she looked beautiful on the day and in fine form, putting on a great performance as always. We were delighted to see Crystal win 1st in Limit bitch class - her 2nd such merit. For a young girl she has certainly held her own and has beaten some older winning CC Leonbergers.
Pictures can be seen on our website of Jimmy, Layla & Crystal on our gallery page.
Thank you once again to all of our Jocolda/Leosrus owners for a wonderful job you do of handling and looking after our youngsters.

From birth, all of Trud & Monsters puppies were reserved for suitable homes.
Due to a marriage break-up, a female puppy was available but was soon rehomed to a loving home.
At the time of the puppies moving into their new homes, we found that one home was not suitable for one of our male puppies. Therefore, we currently have a male puppy available for sale to a loving home. He is fully vaccinated & microchipped. If you are interested in this beautiful boy, then please contact Joan or Kerry on 0044 1457 864651, or email joan@jocolda.co.uk or leosrus@hotmail.co.uk
Mon 26th Apr, 2010 - Welks Championship Show
Leonbergers were judged by all rounder Mr Ben Reynolds-Frost. Sadly we did not show ourselves at Welks due to judging commitments and puppies at home. However, Jocolda & Leosrus Leonbergers did extremely well at the show.
In Limit Dog, Dave & Rhona Hudson's young man 'Masada' Jocolda Roberto Cavalli from Leosrus, was placed 2nd in Limit Dog from a very strong class. He was expertly handled as always by Dave. Well done to you Dave, Rhona and Masada. You make us very proud.
After a short lunch break the judge commenced judging of the Bitches. At her 1st Championship Show outing and following on from her Best Puppy in Breed & Puppy Group 2 win at Bootle & Crosby Open Show under John Thirlwell (Ferndel) our young girl Jocolda Chie Mihara - Layla, owned by Roger & Julie Westwood won 2nd in Puppy Bitch, qualifying her at her 1st Ch Show for Crufts 2011.
